01What it means to unscramble a word
You move the letters around until they spell something real. You cannot add letters you do not have. Some puzzles want every letter used. Others let you use just a few of them. This site does both. The main tool shows every word you can build. The Anagram Solver keeps only the ones that use all your letters.
02A reliable step-by-step method
Copy your letters carefully. Watch for ones that appear twice. Use a question mark for a letter you do not know. Search once with no filters, just to see how big the list is. Then add only what you are sure about: how long the word is, the first or last letter, letters that must be in there, or a pattern like C_T. Sort by common words for everyday answers, or longest first when you want the big ones.
03Example: finding words from STONE
STONE gives you five-letter answers: NOTES, ONSET, STONE, TONES. It also gives shorter ones: NOTE, TONE, ONE, TEN. Set the length and you see only one group. Then let the clue pick. If it says “musical sound” you want TONE. If it says “watches” you want NOTES. The letters give you the options. The clue picks the answer.
04Check the rules of your puzzle
Every game uses its own word list. Ours has 168,468 words and is deliberately broad. It is not the official list for any game. Names, short forms and spellings from other countries are handled differently elsewhere. Use this to find options fast. Then check the list your game names, if it has to count.
